Hmmm, I guess this one doesn't bother others as much as it bothers me.
I thought this would be low-hanging fruit.
Thanks for letting us know. I forwarded this to the team responsible for shell.
(improvement ticket logged FUS-200637)
The inside and outside thickness field are separate parameters. Would you prefer to see those combined? To see this, just enter values for both inside and outside, then use the both setting.
So if a user sets the inside shell, then toggles it to outside, then toggles it to both, should the initial value be in both fields?
Hmmm, I see this is more interesting.
I never realized that Both could be asymmetric, I always assumed that it was symmetrical.
I guess the ideal behavior would be that as soon as a user enters a value for either inside or outside that both fields be populated with the same value. Then if the user decides to toggle inside/outside they don't have to reenter the value. If they want a different value, they of course have to type in that different value.
If they type in initial value in either inside or outside Both sides would initially be equal distance.
Maybe all of this isn't worth changing the current behavior, but in my experience, users generally are toggling inside/outside without changing value.
Thanks for the feedback. I agree with you it's a little confusing. I've suggested showing both fields all the time, rather than hiding the inactive one. The inactive field would be greyed out, and become active if the user picked that option.
