Variable Pitch Grooves along cylinder

Hey guys,

 

So i know I've seen posts very similar to this one all over the place, but im really having trouble following just about any of them.. I've got a part coming up that has a variable pitch groove on it, that i could program but cant draw.. And im in need of some sort of tutorial to be able to draw the part up. does anyone have a link or video to do such things? Most of the videos or walkthroughs ive been seeing use external programs. All i really have is fusion so i was looking for a workaround.

 

any help is appreciated!

 

for what it is worth, the groove is an 1/8" wide, the outer diameter is 2.125" the length is 5.5" pitch is from 3

16" up to 5/8".

I've made some progress, and i think i have figured it out. luckily what i am doing isnt a really difficult pitch change.. print basically says, This pitch (3 revs) this pitch (3 revs) and so on. so i basically used the coil command 3 different times with the three different pitches.. while placing them on offset construction planes.. then i had to orient the part to get the grooves to match up with each other... all in all isnt too difficult once i wrapped my head around it... (No pun intended)Screenshot (8).png

Hi

 

So I tried a different way that I thought was a little more accurate than using the coil function for each section.

 

First create sketch with points on a line that gradually increase in distance. Then copy, paste and rotate the line about your axis for the coil. Then draw one long spline connecting every point in order while moving from line 1 to 2, 3, and 4.
