Unable to select boundaries/edges for radial

Hey,

I created a sort of organic model which I wanted to use to make a casting/moulding form from. So I rotated it, created a box, and made a boolean cut with both bodies to create a mould. In the end, only one body.

After that I switched to CAM mode and wanted to try the radial operation to create a really smooth form but I seem unable to select the outer edges of the form in order to set the center points.

Take a look at the screencast. The only edge I can touch is the one on the lower end but that's about it. I can also select some points on the sides but this will result in a machining time of 2-5 hours... so would rather have the center point in the center and not somewhere on the sides.

Or is there any other way aside from adaptive clearing, which results in a rather smooth form?

If you add a sketch with a point you can use that for your center point in spiral.

You probably want to add a combination of multiple toolpaths to get a decent finish on this part, however.

Try scallop, and add the sharp edges as your machining boundary.
