Turning: How to plunge to follow profile / recess on a facing operation

I have a very simple part which basically has a 1mm recess with a 1mm radius coming out of it.

Using my tool which has a 0.8mm radius I should be able to face this part and create the face profile but I can't get fusion to do it. I've also tried orientating the tool at 90 deg so the holder is axial to the stock but fusion didn't like that either. I also tried a grooving tool path but it wouldn't work with my selected tool.

Any hints on how to get this profile?

A face toolpath only works in one direction; X.

For anything else, you want to be using 2D Profile > Finishing. Enabling "Allow Axial and Radial Gouging" should send it where it needs to go.

If that still doesn't work, could you share your Fusion file here?
File > Export > Save to local folder, return to thread and attach the .f3d file in your reply

Hi Seth,

It's still not plunging in and getting the profile needed. Attached is the file.

Cheers,
James

Yes! That's it. It took me a while to verify because I was trying to replicate in my model. Apart from selecting the face as the back reference, switching off lead in was the key.

Thanks for the help.
