Tool path help

I'm having issues getting to the next step. need some help in a few places

*Reference attached file

1 - "Fin Roughing" - a few things on this operation

       -  the tool drags across the rough stock in a few places. i've tried a few different things to get the retract height up higher but doesn't seem to make a difference

       - seems like the path retracts quite a bit, i can't seem to get it to stay down and won't go over the big holes without retracting,

      - the first pass is very deep then take less each pass. i have the multiple depth selected and have a maximum of .125 but doesn't make a difference to the first pass.

      - wonder if there is a way to simplify this operation?

2 - "flat3" intended to be "Fin Finishing"

       - i'm not sure which operation to select here to get the path i'm looking for. the initial roughing i left with a .02 stock to leave, the "flat" seems to be the only selection that correctly identifies the path. although, it works within the boundaries of the selection only. i'd like it to make a long straight path from one end of the part to the other for a finishing pass on each fin.

I feel like this piece should be much more simple than its seeming to be.

 Slowly learning.... thanks in adavance.

Hi

The part is simple but not so simple at the same time.

Have a look at the video and attached file.

I would, now knowing what the end result looks like model this part again from scratch using a simpler method as there's a lot of issues with that model.(you could ask in the Design forum for advice on that, I'm not really an expert on that side)

You use Flat as operation.

Flat is a finisching Operation, this is the reason why you don't have as many settings as with Schrupp operations.

I would try rough the top of the fins in one operation and then use Slot Operation to roughing between the fins.

In my opinion slot will give you the cleanest toolpath.

Using a manufacturing model would also make this easier

Do op 1 as the bottom face,  and place in jaws.

Then I'd 3d adapt the 2 holes and outside profile. 3D adapt the topography above the lowest fin.
Then slot thru (aluminum) the fins and finish them with a thin wall strategy (2d contour).
