What is so new the latest release abou the tool orientation preview.  It states for 4 and 5 axis positional.  What is the defference between that and 3 + 2?

My operations seem to have tool orientation check box wether preview is turned on or off????  As far as I can remember it has been that way.

Hi Lonnie,

So you have Tool Orientation enabled whether you have the preview enabled or not because you have an Ultimate account. The preview only applies to Fusion Basic users.

Thanks,

Noah

"Let's see how many people actually will be using this so we can determine what our market is"?

@LibertyMachine, at present, +2 (positional 5 axis) is the only thing that is differnt between Standard and ultimate.

For this reason, it makes sense to make this fuctionality avaible to all users.

Note, I love to engage on the forums. However, I spend a lot of time in meetings trying to help clear the path for our amazing team of Developers working on Manufacturing at Autodesk. So, if I don't respond immediately, it's not that I don't care.

I guess the question I would have is: At what point is there actually going to be tangible value to having an Ultimate subscription? (yeah yeah, cloud credits, whoopee) Is Autodesk actually planning on bringing real value to the Ultimate package or is it an inside joke against the Ultimate plan holders and early adopters?

Is that make available at as an extra cost for the standard version at some point?

I would like to add to this conversation.

I would say, there's a distinct difference in true 4/5 axis milling and the one implemented currently, where tool orientation is fixed per operation (lets call it static 4/5 axis).

My guess is that many hobbyists, like myself, could overcome the lack of static 4/5 axis operations, if this is removed. But having it available is quite amazing and it could easily attract users from the competitions.

The true 4/5 axis milling is a whole other ballgame. There's no way anyone could do true milling without proper postprocessing. It would be vise to make the payment difference on that feature.

Just an opinion from a enthuastic hobbyist having a 4 axis CNC at home 🙂

Using Autodesk logic, they will give it free to standard users and early adopters and ultmate users will have to pay for it.
