Tool Orientation in turning - empty toolpath

Hey everyone,

i have a problem using the tool orientation in a specific turning job.

I want my boring bar to match the angle of the big inside chamfer.

The advantage of this tool orientation would be, that i could work with a much bigger boring bar, without crashing the backside into my part. The toolpath works just fine with an orientation of -10°. As soon as i go below -10° (my goal is -30°) i get no toolpath anymore. If i turn of rest machining i get a weird facing pass, but nothing on my chamfer.

I attached an f3d with both versions (-10° working / -30° not working)

Anybody got an idea what to do here?

thank you very much in advance!

It's because of a few factors:
1) Rest Machining

2) Stock to leave

3) Needing to enable "Allow Radial and Axial Grooving"

Addressing those three items gets me this for a toolpath:

Nice, that did the trick. I just could not imagine, that it has to do anything with grooving settings, as the operation itself isn't grooving at all.

Thanks!

When a tool is cutting, Fusion considers that cut direction and applies the Grooving limitations. This is used to prevent (or allow) the tool from entering into areas you do or do not want it to get into.
