Is there a tutorial on the updated threads operation?

The help file is outdated and there is a whole lot more options to dig through what was once pretty straight forward.

How so, I wasn't aware that there were any significant changes? 🤔

Perhaps not to you since you use it most everyday. Somewhere in the last few updates it changed a bunch. I can no longer just choose a face and go. I have to jump through hoops via diameters and then choose a face.

FWIW I am finding similar things happening elsewhere. Similar meaning I can't just choose a face to bore without the hoop jumping. Even then I get failures to launch. There must be a new sequence to things I don't see yet.

Just looking for an up to date tutorial.

Well, some icons have changed, but otherwise it's pretty much the same "Thread" tool that it's always been. Here's a side-by-side comparison of the old and new dialogs:

Selection mode: Choose faces. Can't choose a single thing so why is it there?

I must first choose a top and bottom boundary and then a face. Even then something is missing causing a fail.

Just looking for an up to date how to.

If you can't select a face, it's likely the case that your cylinder is either:

a) not actually a cylinder

b) not aligned to your WCS "Z" alignment.

What happens if you turn on Tool Orientation and align the Z to the cylinder?

Desperate times call for desperate measures. 😎

After far too much time fighting this I walked away.

The fix eventually came to me and I restarted 360.

All current problems corrected themselves.

In hindsight I am irritated with myself for not doing this earlier.

I have run across times in the past where things stopped working midstride as if software dementia had set in.

Restarting always fixed it.

Seth, as always thanks for the support.

So it just worked fine after a restart? That's...odd

Weird, yes. I never knew if it was a memory hog thing or something else.

I never know what sequence of events makes it happen but when something that just a few minutes earlier worked and now does not or is not recognized something is up. Restart fixes it for whatever reason.

It just took stubborn me too long to recognize it this time.

I had another thread about using a plug with joint and combine that quit working.

It also is working again.

Who knew?😎

Something else. I have a metric ton of ram on the machine housing 360.

When it gets really slow or lagging I have to restart 360 to get it moving again. shrug

What's your OS and relative computer age? Anything "ancient" being used? Desktop/laptop, remote?
