threading simulation crash

Hello,

As of today, I can not simulate a threading cycle. Previous designs that would simulate, no longer simulate.

Every other toolpath can be simulated, but the threading cycle will not open the simulation user interface, it hangs and eventually I have to shut the program down. I updated the computer drivers with no change in the results. I have tried it many times with the same result.

Can someone explain whats going on here please?

Thanks

Joshua

Hmm, I can't say I've seen this one yet. Would you be able to share your Fusion file here?
File > Export > Save to local folder, return to thread and attach the .f3d/.f3z file in your reply.

Thanks Seth.

I'll post it soon. It looks like in the latest updates, that the threading simulation has been altered to not show the actual thread cut, presumably to speed up the simulation, which is great because the threading use to always bog down my simulation. But maybe something else has gone wrong now.

Here it is Seth.

It is doing it on my work computer and my home computer, both updated with latest fusion 360 versions.

Thanks.

Yes, it appears to do it only when you have your Model showing, turning the Model off in the Browser tree gives the image below, thread showing OK.

Hello Engineguy,

Unfortunately not even that works for me.

OD threading simulations work, but not ID threading simulations.

Yeah, I'm locking up hard. This looks like a problem in Simulation, I've passed this file onto a developer who might be able to work out what's going wrong.

Definitely odd, it seems to work OK here and I am on version 2.0.18460 which I think is the latest version ???

See video below.

Thanks for that, Engineguy. To be clear, the issue is not whether or not the simulation shows the threads being cut and material removed, its that the threading simulation does not start and it locks up the program. I guess this is already clear, but so there is no confusion, I thought id mention that. Thanks

@scastrophotography I'm having the same results as you. I opened up CAM-51986 to investigate. For what it's worth, this issue doesn't appear to exist in our internal builds, so it looks like it's been fixed at some point. You should see improvement in a future release. I know that doesn't help you in the present...

@scastrophotography  yes, I did note that I have no "locking up" here and it is odd that both you and @seth.madore have that issue, are you both on the same 2.0.18460 version as me ???

Yes, same version. I noticed that you have tools turned off. Does it still work with them turned on?

I forget, are you on Mac or PC?

Seth, I seem to be able to do anything with the original file, tools on/off and it always works fine for me.

I am on a very old Windows 10 PC and the simulation is quick and solid, no issues. Very strange !!

Hi all

It seems to be caused by this option

alaasW8M6T_0-1709152245271.png

Turning that off allows it to run just fine

Well spotted, would never have thought of that option, I had forgotten about it as it didn`t seem to work in the past so I had it turned off.

Spot on, it does indeed lock everyting up here as well 🙂 🙂

Thankyou for noting that, I will try it when I get to work. Quite ironic if that's the case 🙂

Turning off stock simulation improvements fixed the issue for me to.

I can no longer simulate thread cutting on the od. the simulation hangs or is dead slow. takes many minutes or just hangs. i could simulate before last update.

Can you share a File that's not working?

Have you tried Turning this option On(Or OFF)
