Solidworks assembly import with Autodesk connector

Does anyone use a workflow of designing assemblies in Solidworks and then using Autodesk connector to get them into Fusion for CAM? I've tried just about everything I can think of to make it work and can never get the assembly to open in Fusion. It produces an error saying the file can't be opened every time. I've also tried creating a very simple assembly with just a block and cylinder, then the assembly will open, but only the block is in the file, although it is shown as a part in the folder.

This is not looking like a reliable option so far. I get the feeling that if I got it to work, it would easily break. I like cnc programming in Fusion, but for designing we use Solidworks. I know HSM is an option as a plugin for solidworks, but I don't like the interface...

Thanks for any ideas here.

I have the same work process, design in Solidworks, then import into Fusion. I personally do not like how Fusion imports Solidworks assemblies into Fusion, so what I have found that works best for me is to save the Solidworks assembly file as a step file, then import that step file into Fusion. Opens very fast and hasn't caused any issues so far.

Yeah, I also currently export step files and import into fusion. The problem is when a change occurs I lose all my toolpaths. I've resorted to making the change in Solidworks and then also in Fusion if it's a small easy change. Or sometimes Ill just import one part from the sheet and replace it. A pain in the neck either way. Would be great if the assembly had a live link that worked so the parts could update and retain the paths.

I do not see that happening because they are two different platforms. If you want to keep the associativity with your assemblies when they change, I suggest just learning to live with HSM Works. Keep in mind, that to my knowledge, HSM Works is not going to be continued soon. Mastercam is also supposedly not continuing support soon for Mastercam for Solidworks, so that leaves Solidworks users with a limited choice of plug ins for Solidworks, perhaps Autodesk should reconsider and continue development with HSM Works?
