Slicer and Topographic maps

I have a student that wants to make a Topographical Map of her family farm for a school project. Question. Could  Fusion 360's Slicer help to create a file that we could send to a CNC Router? How might we go about developing that file? The thinking is at this moment a layered construction method using CNC Router cut MDF sheets.

Are you wanting this in 3d or 2d ? If you want 3d if you can get the DSM ( Digital Surface Model  which is a GIS file) than maybe you can convert it if you want a 2d and have the map you can turn it into an SVG. Below is a link to a converter I use. With the SVG you should still be able to press pull to get "elevation"

Hi Martin,

Thank you for your ideas. In the end she wants to build up the individual layers of the Contour map into a 3D map of her farm. At the moment I am trying to find a supplier of digital maps so that we can use Slicer to 'SLICE' the contour lines/shapes from the map into layers that a  CNC router or laser can recognise. Thinking about it could Slicer work that out from an google map image?

Hi Martin,

I can get a detailed DSM  file of the farm image using Government mapping services...very cool. What the question is, Can Fusion 360's  'Splicer'  slice up a file that will follow the contour lines suitable for a laser to cut out ...if that makes sense
