Shopbot errors

Hi all,

I have access to the Shopbot line of CNC mills and I would very much like to use Fusion 360 but so far have had no good luck. Have done a basic search and I can't find any information so far.

I have a very simple part that I have patterned across a 18" x 24" stock and everything looks good in CAM. My last attempt to save out from the Post Process to Shopbot resulted in errors that stopped teh project on the Shopbot side. Today when troubleshooting the file and again attempting to save the file through Post Process the resulting file has a .Failed extension. Never saw that before.

So is there anyone else in the community using F360 and Shopbot together with sucess? What's your method?

Is there a best practices set of tutorials or tips and tricks link I can follow that details Post Process and / or Use of F360 w/ Shopbot?

Thanks!

Ok rebooted now saving out .cps files for ShopBot, seems ok. Is there any added editing or can the .cps run as is?

Any tips or tricks for running F360 CAM files through ShopBot is greatly appreciated.

So how did you get it to work? Did it add the extention properly. I talked the Shopbot and they said the file looked good but it didn't have a spindle start and stop.

This is what they said after looking at the post processor file.

That code looks right, the only commands it doesn’t have are the commands to turn on/off the spindle.

The lines needed would be:

SO,1,1 to turn on

SO,1,0 to turn off.

What is the latest Post Processor for Shopbot. Should it be in the available files in PP? Where do I get the latest file?

Hi Tinmen,

I had the same problem.
It follows the profile but spindle doen't turn on.

Where should I write the code that you mentioned?

Thanks,

Trupti

I found my problem. The post process for Shopbot is in the Generic Processor list. My list wouldn’t scroll down past “num.cvc”. I couldn’t get to Shopbot PP. I installed an old version of the ShopBot pp in the Personal pp folder and it made the bad code that wouldn’t turn on the spindle. As luck would have it when I switched from Personal Processor back to Generic it selected the New Shopbot PP because it retained the name. The new tool path works without adding any start stop. It is in the Code as C6 and C7. I talked with the AD engineer who wrote the PP for Shopbot. He has been a lot of help. I still would love to know what the hang up is withe the scrolling error.

Thanks
