Return to Home Problem

Hello,

Today I programmed a part in the HAAS SL-10 CNC Lathe with fusion 360 and had a return to home problems. After the first operation, the tool would move up in the X-axis and perform a tool change at that spot above the part. Then, it would rapid down at an angle that may have hit the part and broken my tool. I did not see an option in CAM to return to home after an op. I have never had this happen before and was wondering if an update changed this and if I have to add the return to home command manually.

Thank You,

Evan Young

Hi @youn8636

We made some significant improvements to the turning "Home position" concept in the October release. As part of these, the "Home Position" was renamed to "Safe Z" and the "Go Home" parameter was migrated into "Approach" and "Retract" Z positions. You can find these parameters in the Linking tab. The default values for these parameters are the Safe Z, so by default the tool should approach and retract the toolpath at the Safe Z position. You can read a more detailed summary of what was done here https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/blog/october-15-2018-product-update-whats-new/#CAM
