I moved 360 to a new computer. All went well. Cloud found everything but my too libraries.

Where and how do I find and get them loaded?

Thanks

Did you save your tool libs to your assets tab along with your post processor

did you export your tool lib on your old pc

If you did neither I believe you have lost them

you do not say if this was controlled change or a pc failure

if you still have the old pc reboot and do the above

Ok thanks

Fortunately this is an update, not a disaster. Libraries are still on the other puter.

First... A rant

To those that designed this with much ballyhoo about the cloud, How did you not take this into account?

I think I have read through every random appearing tech from 360.

Why is it that I have never seen it mentioned that these need to be uploaded?

Rant Off

I keep good backup routines. I should add these files to it to avoid future disasters. Not if but when.

1: Most importantly, where are these files located on my computer?

2: What is the procedure for uploading these files to the mysterious and all knowing cloud?

Ok, I figured out how to get the tool library moved up, over and down.

So #2 can be called solved.

STill need to know where these tool and post files are stored for backup purposes.

It sounds like you're on a Windows machine?

The libraries are stored in different places, depending on whether they are "Local" or "Cloud" libraries.

As would be expected, the Cloud libraries are persisted in the cloud in a special "Assets" project that shows up in your side panel or web view. These are cached locally in a directory under %localappdata%\autodesk\autodesk fusion 360\<userid>\w.login\M.

The "Local" libraries are stored in %appdata%\Autodesk\CAM360\Libraries\Local

These locations are specifically for tool libraries.

Jeff,

Found the libraries.

Where are the posts stored?

The Cloud posts are in the same place as the tool libraries, under a CAMPosts folder. The installed posts are under %localappdata%\autodesk\webdeploy\production (and should be left as-is). Your personal posts are nearby the local tool libraries, I believe.

There's a nice tool to help you find everything on your machine -- Everything. With this, you can quickly search for (e.g.,) '.cps', and find where everything is on your machine.

I got everything found, moved over and added to my backup scheme.

Thanks everyone.

I still think that if it is not possible for the software to keep track of local libraries and posts that there should at least be a BIG red warning sign telling us about this.

I have a lot of time developing my local library and my post is modified.

I shudder to think of the mess if this had been a disaster scenario.

On the other side of the coin it is apparent that project files could also be saved locally.

Hopefully 360 will get around to allowing that. Saving both places would be a good thing.

I don't mind the cloud but the cloud can have a bad day also, regardless of how may servers and best intentions are involved.
