Problem with Wrapped Toolpath Axis Substitution.

Problem with Wrapped Toolpath Axis Substitution.

I am trying to machine a four start helix . I have tried so many different ways but always end up with the following warning: Dependency  on operation set up2 is ignored because it doesn't use axis substitution. Toolpaths are generated and simulation plays OK but so far I have had no success in getting any g-code when I attempt to Post Process

I have old test file that was free of any warning flags and now has that same warning flag you are mentioning.

This was setup for mill-turn, easily convert to 4th axis mill, note that to get spline walls done, I have taper mill because tool orientation and wrap cannot be used together and because of helix wrap must be used.

If splines were strait, you could use tool orientation referenced to vertical edge of spline with standard flat end mill to remove taper after wrap operation.

File still posts fine for mill-turn so that warning is nothing to be concerned with.

Also, if you search 4th axis related work, about dozen threads come up with more samples.

Hi Vick,

thanks for replying. the problem is that whenever I get a yellow warning flag and even though the screen shows tool paths and the simulation works it refuses to post process. All I get is Download failed.

In your setup, X and Y axis were pointing in negative direction, I reversed direction to be in sink with machine axis

orientation and file now posts fine with Haas PP.

Hi Vick,

I tried with the axis in every different position possible but it still doesn't come up with g-code. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

In your setup, all axis need to point to positive direction, same as in machine. If you have problem posting, likely reason is wrong or badly configured post processor.

You don't need to try axis orientation in "every direction", only the correct one, then look for real problem somewhere else.

I see, the post shows 3 and 4 axis in description but produces error, some "post wizard" needs to look at that post.

DUH............ in post processor user parameters, you have to select rotary axis, assuming X, file posts without any issues.

Hi Vick,

I'm beginning to feel inadequate, where do I find that screen. the only Post tabs I can find are in set up and also in actions in  Manufacture.

When you click on icon to post process file, window opens and you have to setup rotary axis for your machine the way I show in last post.

In that window you also select post processor, it's folder and NC code output folder.

Hi Vick,

I still don't see where you get the screen you show. When I choose Post in Manufacture I get the screen shown in the attached file.

I see that you are using Mac, I am on PC. Are you using "Create NC program" from Setup drop down menu?

I am not sure how that works on Mac but you should be able to get access to user defined variables window from somewhere.

What do you see when you click on "Properties" in bottom left corner of that window?

HI Vick,

I have found the create NC Programme tab in  the set up folder it doesn't look the same as your screen  and I can't seem to be able to do much other than change to Manufacturers posts. I have attached a picture of the screen

Sorry, I have no idea how Mac side of Fusion works but someone using Mac should be able to point you in right direction, there are numerous parameters you can set in that window before posting and there must be a way to get to it.

Hi Vick,
I think an approach to Tormach to see if they can show me how
to solve this. In the meantime I have got the Post to work with Haas 4th
Axis post and the code looks ok. I will try to run this on my machine to
see if it will work on the Tormach I will at least be able to Edit/modify
the code to get it to work.
I appreciate your efforts, thanks.
