Post Processing Errors on Makino S56

Hi All,

Please forgive any greenness - we are new to Fusion 360.  But we have a Mid-2000's Makino S56 vertical mill with a Fanuc controller which is having problems with the post-processing in areas such as interpolation, orientation, and sizing.  Anyone with suggestions, please help.  Thanks in advance!

Specifics:

1. Counterbores oversize.

2. Drilled bolt circle in wrong X location, but counterbores are in correct location (verified proper model and actual machine setup).

3. Will not allow cutter comp without error.

1) Counterbores oversize. Just counterbores? Or other features as well?

2) Assuming your machine is standard XYZ travels, my first thought is that there is an error in the Fusion setup. Could you attach your model so we can investigate further?

3) What is the error you are receiving? If your machine doesn't have 3-axis arc movement capability, that might be the source of the issue. Or is it cutter comp in any direction producing an error?

To share the file: File > Export > Save to local folder. Return to thread and attach the .f3d file in your next reply

Thanks for the reply!

1.  We're not sure yet.  We're only on our first project with Fusion.

2.  Yes, it has XYZ 3-axis arc capabilities.

3.  Error is "Interference with CRC" when any tool offset diameter is entered for cutter comp on tool 4. (5/8" Endmill)

1) You've run g-code produced by other software, with success, on this machine? What was the software used

2) nothing much to say here

3) What value are you inputting? Half the tool or full diameter? For Control Comp, you should be inputting half the tool. Of course, this is just me assuming that the Fanuc on your machine is configured much the same as all the other Fanuc's I've encountered

In the .f3d that you provided, which Setup is causing you grief? ( a side note; the setup on second op isn't center of the part, but center of the recognized stock)

1.  Yes, we used to use PEPS.

3.  Yes, we are using half.

-Yes, the 2nd setup was just us playing around with different options.  But thanks for the sharp eye to detail.

Note:  We re-posted the exact same program as before, and post processor and it ran fine.

This is great...but why did that happen??

2. Cutter Radius Compensation? Why not use full diameter? For one it's more accurate. If you're having errors keep in mind that your linear lead in length is only .03125 and that may be throwing it off. Try changing it to half the nominal cutter diameter and see if that is better.

Your first setup the stock isn't defined to the part either:

To fix this change your Axis (on the Stock tab in your Setup) to the outer radius or threaded bore in the center.

It was the 1st setup.

Somehow...when I re-sent the post process (without changing anything), everything was fine.  Strange.

Then, I modified the base plane, and ran the part.  Thanks for your help and input, but evidently, somehow, it was a glitch or a ghost between the ports.

Thanks again!

Did you ever get your post for Makino S56 working for Fusion 360? Any chance I could get post file?

Thanks,
