Trying to get a 2D toolpath functioning but im unable to select any geometry or features .

Is there something ive missed turning on in the model?

Stock contours i get the outer bounding box, but still cannot select anything else.

Any chance you've got some selection filters unchecked?

Thankyou!  that was the issue.

What is the best was to select the complete component for a  2D adaptive toolpath?

ATM i need to click on many areas to select them but not getting what i want. Need to machine the whole top face.

Decided to try a 2D contour for the outside profile.  I can get the stock bounding box to appear, ( yellow rectangle)  but unable to select it at all.   The part will be held by expanding fixtures inside the top and bottom holes, so i can also machine the face  in one setup.

To contour the outside you need to create conditions for what you intend to do, I projected all surfaces onto plane, saved resulting sketch as dxf file, undo sketch then import that dxf file into new sketch, trim geometry I don't need to come up with outline of model then use that as geometry in operation.

You can also use your first sketch but you need to hold down ALT key and select segments of sketch to outline the cut.

Thankyou!

Not so  simple.

From what read in help, selecting stock contours should have enabled machining from the stock box in setup.

I noticed that in your setup you oriented long dimension of model parallel to Y axis, is that how it will be oriented in machine?

I changed setup to have model long dimension parallel with X axis, the way it would be clamped in vise, so I just played with some options and came up with something you may wanna consider, being that you seem to be a beginner Fusion user.

Basically, roughing with one tool and finishing with another tool of same configuration, 5 tools and 5 tool changes.

Flip part over, copy few tool paths into new setup and adjust few details to complete the job.

Origin is top and center of large hole.

Selecting model contours for 2D contour is not so simple when you have fillets on edges and different features that intersect each other, so projecting faces from top view simplifies that.

You could have saved your original sketch as DXF file, start new sketch, import file and trim sections of it to produce clean outline and use it as geometry in 2D contour, there are few ways to get things done.

Wow, you have been busy!

I have it oriented that way as i will use a fixture to hold several parts at a time.

My plan was, raw stock, face,  drill and machine finish the bores. Each part individually.

Then mounted onto fixture held by internal expanding arbors inside the bores.

machine outside profile, top, etc.  Flip and repeat.

I see you have a blend path,  Im unable to open it on my license?. No stress i was planning on using a  corner radius tool to machine those features.

Your work will be of immense help to learn the strategies for the path setup!

You may wanna check your preferences, and turn few things on. On subject of "being busy", I do that in part due to Covid 19, spending a lot of time at home. By programming few parts, I keep my focus on things I do every day, expand a little here and there, learn few tricks myself and help someone else along the way.

I don't intend to convince any one to do things my way, especially because I have limited information on other requirements or preferences you have to consider.

You could also rough that part using 3D adaptive and finish with half dozen other strategies, so it's just an exercise leaning in one direction.
