Hi

So i have created a cam template for roughing with the correct speeds and feeds and depth of cut and optimal load for each tool, but when i try to recal that template into a new job the speed and feeds come in ok but the optimal load and depth of cut do not.

In my tool library I have the boxes ticked for step down and step over, so can anyone help to what I am donging wrong.

Hi @andy9AEZA

i've replicated what you have explained here and it seems to work fine for me. Can you attach the project so we can have a look at it.

Thanks

Hi

I have attached the original and a copy, I made the template from the original and then read it back into the copy.

as you will see the optimal load and depth of cut are not what they should be.

Thanks

Hi @andy9AEZA

That is very strange, it seems to work fine for me. All i did was open up one of your toolpaths and select one of the tools from your master session and it imports the preset data. I wouldn't say this is a bug because of that, do you have any pending updates?

Another thing to try is selecting a different tool and then selecting the desired tool again, not sure if you've tried this already? Alternatively I would try maybe saving your sessions, signing out and then signing back in and see if that fixes anything.

I've attached your copied project anyway so you can see that the first toolpath updated the parameters correctly.

Hope this helps

Mat

Hi Mathew

Yes you are correct that if you then select the tool from the list it brings in the Optimal Load and the Depth of cut. but the template is already is difined with the tools that i wish to use and the feed and speeds come in correctly.

so why do i have to select again the tool that is already in the the template.

We use PowerMill currently and we get access to Fusion 360 with our subscription.

PowerMill templates will come in with everything defined correctly.

I feel that i should not have to reselect something that is already there in the template.

Hi @andy9AEZA

Oh I see what you are saying. Yes with PowerMill it retains the specified parameters from the previous toolpath. I thought you were saying that the function doesn't work. I agree, it should remember the specified tool data for stepdown and stepover if you have specified this without having to re-select the tool. I can report this as an improvement for the development teams and see what they say.

Thanks

Hi @andy9AEZA,

Thank you for bringing this problem to our attention.

You mention that you were using a template file for this project. Could you attach this template file or send it to me as a private message so we can investigate further?

Many thanks,

Nathaniel
