Hey, welcome to the world of Turning!
First off, we don't have any models for the machines themselves, so let's just get the bad news out of the way. We're working on improving the Machine Simulation aspect of Fusion, but until that point, a machine model won't do us any good.
Little background before I dig into the rest; I have a Doosan Lynx LYSB in my shop (twin spindle, C/Y).
For all turning jobs, I will at minimum import a set of soft jaws, break the link and then shape them to suit the part. The program for that set of jaws will stay with the part file.
For 90% of my jobs, I'll import the entire chuck and jaws, break link and repeat as above. For jobs that are collet work (QG-65 or R8), I'm importing the chuck and generic collet. Again, break link and adjust size of collet to suit the stock at hand.
All live tools are modeled out as best as I can, bearing in mind that we don't have a concept of square tool holder blocks (yet). Knock on wood, I've not had an issue yet with this method, and I've run many jobs thru that stout machine.
