Inventor files and points/axes

Hi,

I have parts that are created and drawn in Inventor, and I'm using Fusion to apply HSM to the parts. When I import the models, any points that were created in Inventor are left out of the model in Fusion. I currently have a work-around that involves making a DXF from the IDW file and using it as an overlay for the points. Is there a simpler way?

If you're importing an Inventor file the body geometry is what is going to be imported. Construction geometry (planes, axis, points) and sketches are going to be lost in the translation process.

It sounds like you're on the right track with the DXF file. You might also be able to insert a CSV file of the points if you collect the XYZ location of the points in Inventor.
