Internal wrap for 4th axis part

I am trying to create a toolpath that will mill the internal semi circle on the bike stem part. I can do it with the part stationary using a parallel or scallop but I want the 4th axis to rotate as well as the tool moving. When I try and use a 2d path and wrap it tries to wrap the outside of the cylinder and machine from the wrong side.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm using a HAAS VF1 with a HRT160 4th axis fitted with a 5th axis vice

Nope, not possible at this point in time, unfortunately. It's been asked for before, but as of yet, it's not something that's available.

Thanks Seth! It seems like the easiest and most useful thing! I'll stick to the ball tool from 6 separate angles.

Have you tried using Flow with the "multi-axis" capability engaged? I've had good luck with that getting 4 axis toolpaths to do what you want (at least what I think you want.)

Looks like it works! I'll try it on the machine. Thank you!

Hmm. 4th axis limit turned on gives me really poor results, and turning it off yields very small B axis moves. What results did you get, and what settings did you use?

I have attached the file here. It won't let me post process as the direction is not supported!

with BetaMode turned on I have no option to restrict to 4 axis in the flow toolpath. Even though the path I've created remains 4 axis it won't let me export to HAAS pre NGC 4th axis as the it thinks the toolpath is 5 axis.

That's because it is a 5 axis toolpath. The option for 4 axis limiting shows up on the Geometry tab of the toolpath (no clue why they put that there)

Alright, I chatted with one of the developers and found the solution (regarding why I was getting crappy results in 4 axis).

You need to set Tool Orientation like this:

Thank you for all your help and patience! I am now 95% there. Just one last issue. It seems no matter what I try it cuts the toolpath short (as in doesn't climb to the top of both sides) I've tried creating a new toolpath from scratch but it does the same...

I changed my set up WCS to the centre of part and it's all good now in simulation. It still won't let me post process the code.

I've done everything the same and it just won't let me output the code. I've even gone back and orientated the model the same as yours. I've put my file here. I would be grateful if you get a chance to have a look at it.
