That is not currently possible, sorry. That is one of the goals of the team in charge of the tool library, but it IS a bit down the list of priorities.

Hi @seth.madore ,
Do you know how far down the list this function is for the tool library? It seems all the other CAM software companies permit the use of OEM tool holder CAD files to be imported but not F360 which is really disappointing!
The sample tool holders residing in the tool library are very basic and the fact that you can't edit/modify them is very frustrating.
I would love to see this function added to F360 !
Thanks

Its fairly easy to create your own within the tool manager. Iv'e done this with several Kennametal hydraulic holders. You can edit the samples after you copy it to your personal library, you can't edit it from the sample library.

Thanks for your response and example @Mattxer
You says it's easy to create your own but I believe is far more simpler to import the 3D CAD model from the tool supplier. Especially if you use a large array of different tool suppliers.
Modelling your own is okay but as they say, time is money!!

I 100% agree with you, I would much rather import the cad data haha. Unfortunately the tool library has been like this for a long time. Good to hear its in the works though.

@seth.madore is there any update on this i'm finding this extremely frustrating for check clearances and collisions we use ceratizit tools and holders exclusively. bearing in mind this was first asked in 2019......

Check NYCCNC on you tube.
Here is the link which detasils how to import tool holders. They utilise a script which you need to use in FUSION.

Hi!
It is not 100% correct that tool holders cannot be imported, like seth.madore has written!
I myself have imported tools with tool holders from a tool database.
I proceeded as follows:
1. I exported some sample tools with holders and only holders from Fusion360 as a *.CSV file.
2. I looked at the format in which the tool holders were displayed in the *.CSV.
3. I wrote a python program that reformats the data i want to import into Fusion *.CSV data.
4. I imported the reformatted data into Fusion.
I admit it's not easy but it works!
This way I imported 1319 tools with holders (if data was there) and cutting data like feedrates and spindle speeds from another database

certainly a bit beyond me that one making programs with python i am but a mere cnc machinist. I tried to nyc cnc way and pretty sure i followed it to a t but that plug in doesn't seem to like the latest version. i have a colleague who is good at this type of thing so will let him have a go at some point when hes back

I've used the plugin that is shown on the NYCNC video many times. It works well. You have to turn off design history when you are using it. Depending how the imported geometry come into F360, you may need to combine individual bodies into a single body. But, the plugin does work and it saves a lot of time.
