Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to use a hi-feed to machine the blue area. I have it set as a bullmill, to allow the use of the programmable rad on the tool.
I've tried most of the 3d path options, from contour, to adaptive and heaven knows what else - But I'm doing something wrong. The toolpath completely ignores the chamfer areas.
Can anyone shed any light on this please?
Thanks in Advance,
Andy

Several things to look at:
1) Is your model defined correctly in the Setup
2) Are your Heights set correctly? If it's not going down far enough, that may be the issue
3) What about your Stock definition? If that is not set correctly, it may not recognize that there is material to remove.
4) Min and Max stepdowns. If they are set larger then the chamfer, it will ignore what material is there.
If none of these provide the solutions, can you share the file? If the file contains linked components, just share the A360 link. Otherwise: File > Export > Save to local folder. Return to thread and attach the .f3d file in your reply
Hi Seth,
The model does contain linked items.
I think I've created the stock correctly, the Z level step downs are correct, I think its how I'm selecting the geometry.
I think this is the link - and I stress the "think" part.
Thank you for taking the time to come back to me.
Many thanks
Andy
Hi Andy,
Apologies if i'm not seeing this correctly, but it looks like you have not programmed a roughing toolpath?.You have just selected a contour path that follows the profile. You will need the adaptive rough to create the step downs. Then you can use this ROUGH OP.2 22 WIDE FACE but eliminate the multiple cuts.
Also will point out that in your Setup, you have not defined the Model that you are working with. 3D Toolpaths are not going to work well if you skip this step
Hi and thank you,
I’d tried to use a 3D adaptive first, then a 3D contour and I successfully managed to make both fail......I’m sure it’s the way I’m trying to select the geometry (It’s not the software) - Im still making the transition from another software and it was a little different......especially with my mind working in auto pilot.
The contour path is there so that I can get the part off the machine - even if I have to Chamfer the old way - not ideal I know, but sometimes needs must.
Many Thanks
Andy
That could be just what i’m Making a mess of Seth,
I’ll alter my Fusion to suit and then try again without the Contour paths as suggested.
Thanks Guys, help is always greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
Andy
No Problem Andy,
As Seth suggest add the part under model then use you sketch as the confinement boundary for roughing an adaptive path. It may need opened up a little to give the tool room to work.
any issues leave a posy and im sure one of us will upload a session that does what you require.
Steve
Hi Seth & Steve,
Thank you for the help. Selecting the Models in Setup was the key!
I knew it was a "Human Interface" or "Sh*t on the keyboard" issue.
I'm up and running - thank you both so much; I really appreciate the help.
Many thanks & kind regards
Andy
