I have generated and engrave tool path but the cuts do not show when simulated

If I run my engrave tool path and watch the simulate stats and look at the model from the side I can see that the tool is going beneath the surface but when I look at the model after the tool path is run it does not "look" carved.  It only shows a flat surface. How do I get simulate to show the result of the engrave tool path?

Seems to work fine for me. Do you have the model on when you run the simulation? You want it off.

that was it.  Had to turn off the model.
