Hello everyone,
I have a part here that I'm trying to come up with the best method of attack to limit the amount of operations. It would be machined in a 3-Axis VMC, so no 4th axis unfortunately. The material would be some form of alloy steel perhaps 4130/4140. Also if you have an suggestions for tooling that would make short work of roughing this part out I am all ears. I am attaching the .step file.
That is one big part. If I had to machine this, I would make the eye part first, and then use that to hold the part horizontally and machine it from both directions then refer to pics for next 3 ops. There are some fillets missing in the interior angled pockets, you won't get that flat surface there were the three flats meet. That is because you will need to use a ball end mill. It wouldn't let me attach last op for the 3 circular pockets on the end.
I hate to say it, but better you than me to machine this part. 😁
