How to fill up space on a 8x4ft sheet with other parts?

I plasma cut and wood route lots of parts. recently i developed a few products to fill the unused space in the sheet. however adding those parts to 50+ cut files has proven to be a giant pain in the butt. Hopefully its something im doing wrong.

my old workflow is,
make the part in design
Move to mfg space
pattern it to fill the whole sheet in mfg model.
post

However fusion doesn't support adding models to mfg yet
adding them to the design makes a mess cause of the patterning (it patterns everything in the design at once.... and often glitches out and patterns in both directions)

nesting works with simple shapes but if its any sort of complex it freezes even with a top of the line processor (ryzen 7950x processor and 32gb of ram)

any ideas? anything else to try.

The only thing that works is to do everything in the design space. I'm just trying to get away from that as that seems to be the way fusion is going (doing things with mfg models) and would prefer not to make a custom file any time i wanted to throw a few small parts in to fill up a sheet

e.g. this was done in the design space to show what id like to accomplish. Have a file of circles, add the squares if i need a few. Fill the rest of the space with something else.

Are you using Automated Arrange? You mentioned Nesting, so I assume you have the MFG Extension?

Autodesk did a free nesting trial a while ago. Tried to do it with the products I sell (mainly signs, odd shaped parts) and it just didn't work. I could space things better in 2 min of my time. Often 20% more parts per sheet....if it generated at all....

So I never paid for it.

Also tried arranged, had the same result.

Might have been a year or two since I tried it....maybe it's better now?

Tried arrange again, with only two 1x1ft signs on a 8x4ft sheet it still freezes when trying to arrange them (going on ~15 min now). The algorithm clearly cant handle items generated from fusion's "text explode".

Would you be able to share your Fusion file here?
File > Export > Save to local folder, return to thread and attach the .f3d/.f3z file in your reply.

Not the exact file i was working on but was able to duplicate the problem. I have over 100 files like this and all of them have the same problem when trying to arrange. Can send you the file if you want just not over a public forum.

try to arrange the two "sample text" components into the 8x4ft sketch....freezes and doesnt recover. Make sure your work is saved.

Any ideas? Thanks for looking into it!

It clearly locks up or fails to produce any Arrange with the current system. I'll try to see if it's improved in our internal builds.
Long story short; Nesting and Arrange perform very poorly (at present) with components that are comprised of 100% spline edges.
