Hey guys, today im going to be running a 3/4" inserted ballmill in mild steel.

All i have to do is basically slot a 12" long bar with the 3/4" ballmill to get a 3/8 radius. ive been fudging the numbers around and im just not sure what good feeds and speeds/stepdowns would be good to use here.

i have it at 400sfm .01 chipload,  .02 step down. think it said 15 ,minutes which seems slow to me.. anyone have a better formula to use?

Inserted ball mills run really poor on centerline. Are you able to tip the part at all, or is this 2.5 axis vise work?

What does the manufacturer recommend? I'd start there....

actually i got a really decent finish.. i cant remember what numbers i ended up using.. but i think i was around 3600 rpm at 50 ipm. finish don't look to bad i'm taking .02 step down. and I don't have a box with the manufacturer to check speeds and feeds. its a tool we have had for years, my brother usually runs these parts but hes occupied today so i got tasked with it.. he doesnt use fusion so there no old program for me to use either.

we only have regular old vises as well.. so im not sure what you mean by 2.5 axis work.
