Having troubles with open contour selection

I'm having trouble selecting an open contour from a sketch. I've done this exact operation many times before and I've never run into this issue. I can select the entire shape without any problems. When I try to select the shorter line and the two arcs as an open contour it will only let me select the shorter line or the arcs. I've tried redrawing the sketch and making it an open contour with the same results.

I can select the entire shape.I can select the entire shape.I can select the shorter line, but not the arcs.I can select the shorter line, but not the arcs.

Here's a link to my project.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I made a screencast (https://autode.sk/2EL4fgC) video of a possible solution to your problem. I made a rough sketch similar to the profile of your sketch, connected a contouring line to the shorter line and arc on each side.

If you still have an issue, your welcome to attach the .f3d file for me to take a look at.

Not quite what I'm looking for. I want to follow one side of the contour as below. I can select the three chains individually, but I cannot select all three with the open contour option. Does that make sense?

Out of desperation I tried selecting a rectangle in a different drawing and then tried selecting portions of it with the open contour selected. That didn't work. It looks like open contour is broken for me at the moment.

The selection for open contour is weird because it doesn't highlight the entities you select outside of the initial opening entity, but they are definitely selected.  Check and see if this one is closer to what your wanting.

Clinton,

Good catch. It used to highlight each segment. It's pretty had to know which segments are selected if they aren't highlighted. I'm going to submit a trouble ticket.

One thing I can't stand about CAD tools is when the developers change the behavior of the tool. In my day job I've been using the same program for over 20 years. They are constantly adding features which is fine, but once in a while they change the behavior of an existing feature to make a new feature work. It drives me crazy.

Thanks for your help,

Glad it worked!

Thanks for submitting a trouble ticket on this, I vaguely remember it highlighting each entity as well.  Being able to highlight each entity would definitely make the 2d Contour Operation more user friendly.
