you all are probably pretty tired of seeing my posts of confusion and uncertainty by now, but im doing a job with 11.75 diameter pieces. my haas only haas 8" of travel. i have a tool in a holder, sitting back further than the tool turret. needless to say i have the tool far enough back to reach the outside of the part to do a groove. i have the cam all figured out... but its saying "x axis over limit" which isnt the case.. the program over comes out to 1.77 and i have almost .1875" on each side of the part from the tool.. meaning my tool can technically go out to like 12.125. so it shouldnt be throwing this error..

is there something simple to this im missing.. ill post the cam if that helps at all.

This sounds like a machine limit issue? Or are you seeing this error in Fusion?

thats what i was afraid of.. no issues or alarms camming it out.. but i just cant believe if i found a way to hold a tool further back than intended, that the machine wouldnt cut it. i mean, sure it might stall or something from the shear size and power required to cut.

i guess ill trick the machine into thinking its cutting like 7" diameter piece and set the tool accordingly.

i tricked the machine and got it cutting.. but theres so much chatter its just not realistic to keep going.. gonna pass it off to the manual lathe that has the power to run this.
