Fusion 360 how to print to Creality Print?

I have just bought a Creality K1 MAX, if run the slicer "Creality Print" and import an STL file it doesn't import correct because the scale of the model makes it way bigger than the print bed.

I have previous used Fusion 360 send models to slicer software this is when I have a different printer : "Anykubic Kobra 2 Plus", however after numerous issues with this printer I decide to upgrade to the Creality K1 MAX.

I've tried sending the model from Fusion 360 to the Creality Print application and although it launches the application, no model is imported.

I am using an iMAC:

macOS Monterey

Version 12.7.6

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)

Processor 4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7

Memory 16 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

Graphics AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4 GB

Is this Creality being slow to roll out or Fusion?

The Creality printer I have K1 MAX is excellent, but the software is sadly behind, its very frustrating.  The software seems to have plenty of bugs in it, for example if I import an STL file into it the scale isn't correct, I've imported the same STL into other slicers like Cura and it is scaled correctly.

I'm posting in every K1 printer forum post I can. More people that show they use it and care the more likely Autodesk is to sit down for an hour and add it to their supported devices.

Thanks,

P

I really don't believe this is a problem with Fusion 360, its the Creality Print slicer application that needs work, I know this because I've used Fusion 360 with the 3D Printers and slicing software and these work well.

In the end I ended up using OrcaSlicer which also doesn't have full implementation on iMAC yet, but I exported a gcode from it to a USB drive and insert the USB drive into the printer, this works!

Gotchya. I can't argue that the Creality Print application needs work. Its just not fuctional 100%. It prints.... but thats it. I've been looking forward to using Fusion as a slicer for over a year now and controlling my CNC Laser for over 2.5 years. So currently the issue is on Autodesk/Fusions side. They support every other printer EXCEPT the K1 family. And it can't be that different from the other Core-XY models. Haven't tried Orca but heard others like it. I can't do the USB transfer walk xD. I have to output over network. Faster and I have a NAS to transfer files.

Thanks,

P

Again, it's not a problem with Fusion 360, the application works with other slicers, its purely a Creality Print problem.  I'm surprised that the software was allowed to be released given how unfinished and non functional it is, the K1 MAX is the best 3D printer I've owned to date, pity the software lets it down.

Wait, I'm not following... The problem I'm talking about is under Design Tab > Utilities > Make (3D Print) > (New) Manufacturing option. It refers me to Manufacturing Tab > Machine Library > Fusion Library > Creality > No Option for K1, K1 Max, K1C. So this issue is lack of support for well known and widely used machines not too different from the other machines on their list.

I agreed with you that Creality Print needs work. But that isn't an issue for me. It prints, gets the job done. No way is it "non-functional" as I've literally printed over 7 days worth of prints with it. Maybe you had an issue getting supports to work. Thats been tricky but do-able with checking the output before printing to make sure it looks structurally stable. The option to paint the supports where you want doesn't work at all. Only auto support with modifications to the settings.

Fusion is very close I feel.  Just needs to add a few core-xy machines to the list. My guess is the config for the other printers needs modification as the K1 is closed and has multiple fans to control.

Thanks,

P

Ok, from Fusion 360, I select the menu option to 3D print, in the dialog that is displayed you can choose the slicer software that the output from Fusion 360 is directed to, so far with other slicers it works and in the slicer application appears the model sent from Fusion 360, then you just finished up in the slicer and thats it....With Creality Print, Fusion 360 launches the application but that is all, no model appears which is why I believe its a problem with Creality Print.

Oooooh I see. I don't export my models directly from Fusion that way as I slice from a different computer. I export them into .STL files, and just drag and drop them into Creality Print from network drive.

Hopefully that helps,

P

I've got a solution that works now, from Fusion 360 I 3D Print to OrcaSlicer, then create a gcode file and transfer that to a USB drive then insert into Creality K1 MAX.  Unfortunately OrcaSlicer (the MAC version) has problems too, I cannot print directly to the printer.

Gotchya. So you have to get it into GCode to transfer... Is that because OrcaSlicer doesn't send directly to printer or is your printer off the network? If you don't mind me asking, have you had any issues using OrcaSlicer to where it crashed your machine in anyway?

Thanks,

P

I think its just the iMAC version of OrcaSlicer that is lacking this functionality, I think the Windows version can transfer the file directly.

I haven't experienced any OrcaSlicer crashes.

Mac bug only? Dang... No crashes? Gotchya, Thanks! I've thought about making a switch to Orca or Cura but didn't want to risk their software not knowing the kinematics of our make/model and using the LiDAR. So, I've been "stuck" with Creality Print.

Thanks for the info,

P

Prusa?

What do you mean by Prusa? I see they are on the supported devices list.... Oh, minus the latest MK4 series. Dang. Yeah, this side of Fusion just needs a little attention. A lot left to be desired...

Thanks,

I got a response from Creality today, it doesn't sound like they have any intention of supporting Fusion 360.

Hi, I have the same problem when I want to directly 3D print from Fusion 360. After selecting 3D Print and select user defined slicer ( and connect it to the Creality Print slicer ), the slicer does not accept the file from Fusion 360 -

Cannot open files in the ā€œStandard Tesselated Geometry File Formatā€ format

However, when I export the model in STL format to a disk file ( takes sometimes long time - probably upload the job to Fusion Online) and the copy / paste to the slicer program it works fine.

Hope this will work for you as well.

I'm not sure there is a method or a way in which Creality can "support" Fusion. It's Fusion that will support Creality. Creality already has a slicer for their machines. They have no reason to support some other company in driving their machines. Fusion can drive other machines currently but it's the support for newer machines that's an issue. I honestly don't see Creality and Fusion working together in the future in any way. Would like to be wrong on that, but...

Thanks,

P
