Hello all, im working on some similar parts to what i have done before, basically a variable pitch thread for a customer.. im able to draw and program it wayyy faster than i used to thanks to all the help i get on the forums here. and today i thought i'd take it to the next step and actually just chamfer the edges(edge break) so its less deburring out of the machine. well for whatever reason the trace command on 4th axis does not like to draw in the lines.
this is what i got, not to sure why at all it would do this.
Hmm. 2D Trace doesn't support Wrap toolpaths, so I'm curious what you are actually getting in this regard. You "should" be able to use 2D Contour and turn on "Chamfer" functionality. Could you share your part?

i used "create derived operation". and selected trace. it wrapped it, just not properly.. parts are already done now.. but still curious what i can do next time. i never think to use the 2d contour and use the chamfer tick box.
also, i switched it to a left hand thread now, so the trace path is still for right hand. thats why it is completely wrong now.. didnt notice that till after i exported it.

That actually sounds like a bug... Certainly not likely intended functionality. I'm gonna have to give that a look 🙂
