Engraving on a chamfer surface problems

Good day,

I am trying to engrave on a chamfer surface.

I did found the solution on this forum, but I found a new problem.

When using the Pencil tool path the engraving is a succes, but there seems to be a problem when moving in between the letters. Instead of retracing to a safe hight the tool keeps itself down and traces the surface of the ring to the next letter sometimes.  (the ring is 38mm in diameter to give you an idea about the size)

Here is the pencil toolpath:

You can see that in between the letters the tool does not always do a full retrace, instead the tool is running over the surface to the next letter.

here is an example of the result after engraving (the in between crossing lines in the E and from R to S

I hope someone could help me with this problem.

Thanks In advance,

I found the solution!

I had to adjust the maximum stay down distance.

While I'm glad that you found a solution, I'm concerned that an issue existed to begin with. The tool should not have contacted the part during a transition move..

Would you be able to share your Fusion file here?
File > Export > Save to local folder, return to thread and attach the .f3d/.f3z file in your reply.
