Hi, I have just got a problem with ,,internal CAM error". I have not found any mention anywhere regarding this particular error.

So, I am attaching a photo of the error message. Let me explain it a bit more.

I am running Fusion on MacOs my colleague Win7. We have a shared folder and there we have a project. I did the model and CAM side of the project. I normally generate a toolpath and it works. My colleague open the project and regenerate the toolpath and then the error apears (aspecially for 3D strategies such as 3D adaptove). Again, I regenerate the toolpath and it works. Even if my colleague tryes to make completelly new 3D adaptive in the project he gets the same error.

A note: I have 1 year subscription and he has free trial.

Any suggestions?

Thank you for your time.

Does your colleague happen to have any non-ascii characters (Cyrillic for instance) in his Windows username?
This sounds suspiciously like this issue:

Hi @seth.madore and @vacljan

The issue that @vacljan describes sounds like it is caused by us not handling non-ascii characters in windows usernames correctly, but @seth.madore links to a unrelated issue of a warning that the smoothing has gone wrong. So, to clarify: The problem with us not handling usernames with uncommon characters correctly is logged and we are working on a fix to be released as soon as possible, and the warning generated when toolpath smoothin encountered a problem are unrelated.

Thanks @martin.dunschen , I did indeed link the wrong forum post. Serves me right for doing too many things at once....

Hi guys.

I sent it to my colleague to check it. This is it. My previous colleague has installed the PC with his name which included ,,š" character. To be honest, it is really strange behaving of Fusion but I understand there is more then just intersface and it is not so easy to program such complex program 🙂 I am so glad that is working now. My colleague fixed it. Ufff it really crashed out our workflow for a moment. It happened after some of the latest updates of Fusion. It was not happening before.

So, thank you very much for your answer and help. It is really highly appreciated that every time I have a problem with fusion someone react and tryes to help. The community around Fusion 360 is the best of the best.

Thanks again

Error: Failed to generate passes."

Is this a related error? I have no special characters in my usernames.

I have remodeled the component a few times and get this error when trying to generate a 2D contour. Been trying to work around it for about 5 hours and haven't had success. I'm a newbie so I apologies in advance for any inconvenience.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi @Anonymous

Could you share your file here? Either export as f3d from the file menu or share and post the link here.

It sounds unrelated if you don't have any special characters in your username.

Please make clear which operation it is that you get this error.

Thanks

Hi @martin.dunschen. Thank you.

I was able to get the error to go away by recreating the component from a simplified version of the sketch. I am using the add-in Dogbone for interior radii and I put the SVG created nurb features back in after running the Dogbone script and it seems to have resolved the issue. I'll send the file if it pops back up and does not seem to be solvable.

I appreciate your willingness to help!!

Hi @martin.dunschen

I must have something wrong because I keep getting the error even on different items. In this case I tried to solve like I did the last one by creating new components but it seems to keep failing to resolve. I have attached the .f3d.

The error message is on Setup 1, 2D Contour 1. If I try the debug button I get a longer description but I don't understand what the issue is.

Hi @Anonymous

The problem you're seeing is caused by the selection you made with how outer corners should be machined, on the 'Passes' tab in the operation dialog. The selection 'Keep sharp corners' cannot be met by the algorithm, and this is potentially not expected: In comparison to the other contour passes it is not obvious why this should fail for the toolpath in question, and I will create a ticket for our developers to look into, I will report back here.

In the meantime, if you select one of the other options for the outer corners you get a result, or if your machine controller supports this, switch to compensation "In Control" which will output G41/G42 to the NC file.

I hope these workarounds will help.

You have the Stock solid model selected as your Model in the Setup:

Set it to the proper model and you will get this:

hi @seth.madore

I need to ask one more question here. Even though i did not opt for the rest Machining slot, my operations keep getting the REST STOCK instead of FULL STOCK for every additional operation the tool paths are generating fine fine, but while simulation time the Stock is not full it is machined with previous operations. please guide me what i need to do here

I'm not certain what the issue is here. Can you provide some screenshots? If you're referring to display, it's likely that you are seeing the new feature of "In Process Stock":

@seth.madore I am just posting here other file for example. you can find two operations in the setup. Rest machining is not checked in either of the operations but while simulating the second operation toolpath it is showing the Rest stock i.e. the stock left from previous operation I am posting the screenshots here. Given here is the link to file with a  permission to download  https://a360.co/2J2rKEt

TIA
