Creating a defined WCS/UCS

I'm transitioning from SolidWorks/HSMWorks to Fusion and I have a question. Can some shed some light on creating a WCS/UCS with in Fusion. I am a control freak and this is common practice in SolidWorks/HSMWorks. The ability to create and define coordinate system in SolidWorks and then utilize it in either defining the Setup or In individual operations within HSMWorks has been fundamental from the beginning. There must be away in Fusion to do this....am I missing something? I just don't see the option.

You can setup a completely different WCS in the manufacturing/CAM setup that has no relation to you Design space WCS. Is that what you mean?

There’s no way to do this in Fusion. As @johnswetz1982 points out you can create coordinate systems in each setup.

it’s not possible to creat additional coordinate systems like solidworks. I tend to create a 3D sketch with a triad from 3 sketch lines for the coordinate system as a workaround.

Technically right, technically incorrect. Place a Joint Origin where you wish the WCS to be. The Joint Origin now displays the RGB colored lines, and you can select that in MFG. You would still need to align Z and X off of faces though..

Useful to know. Thanks @seth.madore

Thanks Seth,

This work for all intent and practices. Creating a alternate WCS in SolidWorks I typically create point to attach the WCS to and then define orientation which seems to be much the same way that Joint Origin works.

It would be nice to be able to create a point from an existing point to a new plane. I realize there are alternate ways of doing this with in the create point functions in Fusion. Which tool to use of course is dependent on your geometry and your intent. It would be nice additional tool in Fusion to be able to just transpose a point to a plane....less clicks.

As mentioned all in all this works albeit different.  The intent and usage is what I am after and you solved this one for me and others. Cheers! On to the next hurdle.
