Convert from STL to DXF

Hello,

I recently designed some gears in Fusion 360 but realized that I don't have enough filament to actually 3D print them. I was hoping to convert the files all to DXFs and laser cut them out instead. How can I do this?

Hi @Anonymous,

Can you please share your file?
Without seeing it, it is hard to help you with your problem.
Within Fusion 360, choose File > Export and save it on your desktop.
After that upload it to this topic so that one of us can take a look at it.

I think the solution is creating a sketch and make an Intersect of the whole model so it projects all geometry that you then can export as DXF by right-clicking on the generated sketch.

I used FreeCAD to convert mesh to step file then projected faces to plane in fusion and saved as DXF.
