why is it that I do not have compensation type selection in the passes tab?

You may have to switch on finish pass D, is it there then?
Assuming you are looking for radius compensation, it is called"Sideaways compensation" (second field from the top).

thanks, it worked, finishing pass must be selected to show compensation type selection.
