Closed contour makes part of my selection a red dotted line? + other treats

Here's my open contour:Screenshot 2024-02-23 at 8.44.34 AM.png

 

If I do nothing but change to a closed contour part of the selection changes to a red dotted line:

Actually if you look closely the red dotted line is overlaid on top of the blue lines.

 

If I try again I get the same thing but the closed contour is an open contour:

And if I click "OK" apparently I've made no selection at all lol:Screenshot 2024-02-23 at 8.50.50 AM.png

 

 

I have "Enhanced Selection Experience" checked off but that should only affect selections in the Electronics workspace, no? The behavior is definitely different in the Manufacture workspace though:

That's because you're selecting a bad projection. Our tool that does the Project calculation struggles with edges such as what's in the cross section of what you're trying to Project. Close the chain up and make your selection:
