Hello,

I am writing because I am wondering about the functionality of Fusion 360 and how to accomplish projects in my situation. I am unsure if this is the best thread, so can you tell me if this is the best location or if a different one would be better suited.

I have just put together my CNC machine. I have a 4' x 8' machine that can do 7 inches in thickness on the Z axis. I am looking at creating projects that would need a bigger distance than 7 inches, and I am wondering if there is a way to create the project with whatever measurements and then use Fusion 360 to "slice" the project so that it can be assembled after machining on the CNC.

The other functionality I am wondering about is the ability to create a project, for example a sculpture type thing and then have Fusion 360 create a mold out of the 3D object so that I can reproduce an object. Does Fusion 360 have the ability, and if not, can it be added?

Ideally I would  like the ability to use both functionalities together and be able to create objects bigger than 7 inches and slice them and create molds that could be bigger than 7 inches even if I have to assemble the molds.

I hope this makes sense. Thank you so uch in advance.

Simon

Short answer is, yes. You can slice model in to pieces and then cut on your router. In place where I work we have similar router, and I was making molds for vacuum forming from slices.

Thank you for your reply. At least now I know I can slice and create molds.
Is there a tutorial anywhere for that?

Nope, but when you gona have model to work with, just ask how (quick tip: several constuction planes, and Split Body tool).
