I recently got a 6040 5 Axis CNC Mill from ChinaCNCzone.com.. works like a charm. well worth the $. Decided to test the waters with the Big-Tex Screenset for Mach3 and so far everything works great...except one little issue..when my tool change code comes along for me to make a tool change, I change out the collet and bit and then select the "Zero tool setup" button for my new tool to touch off to my stationary probe plate and set my new tool zero. this also works as it should except when it gets back to G54 to start the next lines of G-code..the bit now has a positive offset of about 4.18mm..this also happens if I leave the tool in and continue with tool change but never actually changing the bit.

MY PROCEDURE IS:

start mach3

reset machine.

home x,y,z axis to 0,0,0

load my stock piece in the vice

set my x y G54 to 0,0

use removable touchoff plate to set G54 Z to z0 (touch off plate is 6.44mm thick)

touchoff on stationary plate.

move back to G54 (g54 is accurate at this point as it should be with tool#1 of job)

run code until tool change comes up

M1

change tool out for next operation

run "Zero tool setup" (this works as it should)

moves to G54 for next operation.

tool is now 4.18mm higher than it should be and is now not touching the material like it should.

g43 in my post process has been turned to g49 to remove fusions tool offsets. (not 100% sure if that helps)

g28 in post process has been turned off

im using mach3 post process in fusion library, I have just modified it a bit for tool change identifications and comments within the g code.

Any help is appreciated!

sample of a simple code is attached.

It could be anything doing it from the rubbish tool zero script in that screen set to mach3 just being a ****.

If you are doing manual tool changes all you need to do is home the machine set your work zero to a spot on the material, vices or machine bed.

Then when the next tool change comes up change tool  zero the tool to the same spot move it so it is in a safe spot and hit cycle start.

This is all you need to do and make sure you have stop spindle wait for cycle start set in general config set.
