Advice on best workflow for views in manufacture

I have used Fusion mainly for 3D printing and simple single component CNC, but am having trouble with the best workflow in the following.

I am trying to do inlays similar to what others use vcarve for where I have 2 components one the male that will fit into the corresponding female one.

So far I am creating a base sketch with the design and create 2 components and project the base sketch onto each and push/pull the applicable sketch components in preparation for the cam modeling.

I then do 2 setups for each component and everything seems pretty good. I just turn on or off the visibility of the component that I am working on. I then decided to go back to the design and do a rigid group between the 2 components which involves flipping one of the components and restricting the movement to 1 plane. This allows for a sectional analysis which gives a good view of how the parts will intersect.

If I now go back to the manufacture workspace the components are overlapping on top of each other and are much more difficult to work on.

Have played with named views but they don't seem to remember the visibility option, only the position. I have also copied the components but that seems a bit overkill, likewise saving them as components and importing them into another model for manufacture, also an overkill.

At this point I just go back and remove the rigid group once I am happy with what I see in the sectional analysis, but suspect I am missing something. The are far more things that I don't know about Fusion than I do.

I would be happy with any pointers to some training vids, or just pointers in the right direction.

There is a setting on the toolbar at the bottom of the manufacture workspace that makes only the bodies in the active component visible that might help.

Also there's the option in the manufacture workspace to Create Manufacture Model. This creates a copy of your design just for manufacture you can modify without affecting the design workspace models. Any modifications done in the design workspace will propagate to the manufacture models.

Had a quick play and yes, this seems to be what I was missing. Suspect I will use both of these features. Mildly surprised I hadn't seen anyone using these in the many tutorial I have seen. A bit embarrassed I didn't notice them myself 🙂
