5 axis notch on thin wall sheet metal, which toolpaths?

Good morning,

Great forum, I just recently joined.  We are transitioning some work into Fusion and I came across this one part that I can't seem to find the right toolpathing for.  I only am attaching a screenshot because I am not trying to get someone to do it for me, I just would like a couple of strategies in Fusion that would be effective at this particular part.  If requested I could attach the file.  I keep coming up with a lot of air cuts and useless passes.

The machine is a 5 axis head/head with 70 degrees total on A and B and no issues with posting to the machine or anything like that.image_2021-01-15_113559.pngimage_2021-01-15_113639.pngimage_2021-01-15_113701.png

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

BR,

Howdy, which feature is giving you a hard time exactly?  Which section of this part are you having problems with?

I don't see any 5-axis in this part, I see 3+2, is that what you mean?

Right now you are just a bit too vague to get a precise answer (at least for me!).

Thank you for the reply @DarthBane55 ,

The part was supposed to be cut then formed and that didn't happen so that weird twist in the front has to be present.  The only thing being machined is that J-shaped slot.

I attached the screenshot of the stock for clarity.

I see, I missed that twisted part.  Ok, swarf will cut this.  Or surfacing with a ballmill, but if you want 5-axis, the cycle for this is swarf, it should work very well for this situation.

Thank you for the tip.  That was the one I was looking at but I haven't used it before and couldn't get what I wanted out of it.  Just need some practice!

Appreciate the quick reply.

No worries, since you said you didn't ask for someone to do it for you, ya, just play with it, read the little tips when you hover the mouse on a field, you should be fine.  (like the order in which you pick the top and bottom profiles is important).  Good luck!
