3d adaptive strange toolpath

Can someone explain why I keep getting these loops and part cuts on the 3d adaptive I've tried all kinds of settings and I cant stop them. I've already made the part and it turned out fine but it still bugs me that i couldn't get the roughing tool path right Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

And BTW before anyone says why didn't you make it on a lathe my lathe was down waiting for a seal and this needed to be done so i made do.

Tighten up your toolpath tolerance. You have it set to .1mm which is quite loose. I typically run Adaptive around .0127mm tolerance with Smoothing set to .039mm

Thanks!

I'm not sure why it was at .1 I generally just leave it at .01 I suspect I changed it to try and get the loops to go away and never changed it back. At the time I was playing with all kinds of tolerance and smoothing numbers and nothing changed.

Its generating a nice path now with the settings you suggested.

A part like this I wouldn't normally even use cam and just program it on my lathe in conversational (Fagor 8055TC) but nice to use the breakdown to take the opportunity to learn more about fusion cam for the mill. it was a one off part so wasn't worried about the extra time just had to get it done.

Use what ya got. I've done many lathe parts in my mill, but that's mostly because I don't have a lathe :slightly_smiling_face:
