2D Toolpath with crossing lines

I built a 2D drawing robot. With the CAM module I have now managed to generate GCODE using a continuous line (2D path).

The problem: As soon as the line crosses, the tool leaves the path and only "draws" confused stuff. The starting point is also no longer taken into account when the lines are crossed. The tool then mostly starts at the crossing point instead of where I defined the starting point. Everything works fine, when there are no crossing lines.
How can I make my tool start strictly at the start point and never leave the 2D path?

I think you'll have much better luck with the Trace toolpath.

Bear in mind; this software was designed with circular cutting tools in mind, not drawing programs. That said, there's enough flexibility in the software that you should be able to accomplish what you're after

@seth.madore Did you notice @Belott2 was using a cutting toolpath? Really for laser, water jet, plasma, crossing toolpaths should not be a problem. I've also run into this where I like to use 2d contour and ended up using 2 OPs instead of one.

No, I did not 🤔

@Belott2 Would you be able to share your Fusion file here or privately?
File > Export > Save to local folder, return to thread and attach the .f3d file in your reply. To share the file privately, it's the same process, but email it to me: seth DOT madore AT autodesk DOT com

@seth.madoreThanks for helping me! You will find the .f3d file in the attachement.

I've opened up CAM-47001 to investigate improving this.

I was thrown off by the "I build a drawing robot".

Is it a drawing robot with a writing implement, or is there a laser head on it? (robots and lasers, that's comforting!)

If it's a writing implement, I would use the 2D Trace toolpath with compensation set to "Center"

It is actually a controlled magnet that moves a steel ball lying in the sand, leaving a track in the sand. I called this "Drawing Robot" for convenience...
The difficulty with this type of drawing is that the sphere follows every movement of the magnet. It's not like a laser that can be toggled on/off. That's why accurate tracking of the drawn 2D path is so important to me.
Where can I find the "2D Trace toolpath" in the German version of Fusion 360? (If it's "Fräsen/2D-Kontur" then it doesn't work either. I checked that allready...)

Ah okay, thanks. I will try that.

By the way, here's a short clip from the robot that uses the 2D toolpath. Thanks for helping me to create more of such type of drawings!

Yes, that was it! 2D Trace worked! (In the German Version, it's called "2D Projektion".)
Thank you very much for your help!
