why do i have so many issues everytime there is an update?

for the first 3 years of having fusion any issues i had were 100 percent caused by inexperience and have had nothing but positive things to say about fusion 360 but, the past 4 or 5  or so updates have been extremely problematic and not just bugs. i can work around a bugs, this is a much bigger issue.

first i luckily noticed that settings in a couple toolpaths i have been using for over 2 years had settings changed on its own which wouldve crashed my machine. thank god a ran a simulation even though i shouldnt have needed to and dont know why i did but i did and it saved me. then a couple or more updates later "who knows bc there are so many ive lost count" i try to use some of my 589 cloud credits to find they were deleted. i used 11 of them just a week before to use the machining extension and i had 600 before using the 11. the latest update, again, toolpaths that ive used for over 2 years wont generate or when they do, do weird crap when i simulate.

operation 3 toolpaths 5 and 6 both are contour wraps. use to cut much deeper in z and never did that multi .5 inch of cut at the end.

So, im extremely curious to hear from others and the problems they have had in the past or are having right now caused by an update?

This is going on across the board. Look at Fords recall rate, and the other manufacturers are right there with them. It’s all over every industry. But we should all just shut up and go along!!

The Chamfer Extension and Tabs (on circular elements) issues have been fixed in the update that went out last night, sorry for the inconvenience!

  • I run my own shop and I’m not running a router. I machine brass casting for the refineries. Don’t assume bc you use a hobby software like my self that I’m using a router and in my garage I won’t assume you decided to comment just because. I have more machines than you have teeth I can guarantee that.

How would you feel if a setting in a tool path someone got changed on its own causing a 4000 dollar casting to get scrapped?

how would you feel if that crash caused your not the place you work for but your 160,000 dollar machine to crash and needing to have the spindle trimmed in.

and that was caused in a took oath that you have used for 3 years and this is the second time this **** had happened? The first time I caught it and was would write this a while back. I just started a new one bc fusion 369 just cost me over 5k in damages.

you want to pay for it since you are there cheerleader?

The other day i got a cut finger because of fusion's autonomous random tab addition function.  I went to remove a piece that should have had a couple of tabs but fusion had randomly added more resulting in a piece that wouldn't remove easy, hence cutting my finger.

Today, as usual, the software change caused an issue.  Toolpath failed due to 'Cannot rest machine'.  This is caused by the option of turning imprecision.  But this option is not ticked.  What i have to do, is tick the option, click apply, then untick the option, then apply.  Then regenerate the toolpath.  The joys of a program that used to have an IQ of 120 and now has an IQ of 60.

I'm going to hop in here because I have waisted all of today dealing with bugs resulting from the latest update. Rest machining isn't working properly, simulations are terribly slow, regenerating certain features is producing something entirely different than it was before, and the surface selection is so vague it's sometimes hard to tell if a surface is even selected. Life was fine prior to the update. Now I've got tool paths trying to rip through soft jaws to cut stock that isn't even there, excessive air cutting, and practically unusable stock simulation. If you aren't going to fix this stuff at least give us the ability to roll back to a version of Fusion that wasn't screwed up.

I can't tell you how many times I have asked that when there's an update, QUIT CHANGING MY FREAKING PARAMETERS AND PREFERANCES!!!!

Even eliminating the ability to make something a parameter, like the smoothing check box for instance. Now I have to remember to check it every time.

I do not understand the constant urge to go backwards in updates! I know I'm not the only person that feels this way, I am not the only person to bring it up, and for several years we've been doing so. But it still happens every update.

Then you get the, "if you don't like it leave" response. That's my favorite!

I just now found out that of course my cutter comp isn't working! WTF!!!! All the time wasted doing this is insane! Thanks for constantly improving your program to the point it's unusable!

They just changed my settings from "wear" to in computer! I have no idea how many programs I've written this way now. I set preferences so I don't have to pay attention to things like this. WHY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!!!!!! Do you have any idea how much time this wastes, not to mention the part that was just destroyed!

Years of begging and pleading, stop IMPROVING!! Try leaving it alone for a couple minutes so I can get some production done!!!

I'm also sorry I put this in reply to someone's post, it was supposed to be just a reply, not to anyone in particular. My frustration is immeasurable at the moment.

an update will never change a previously saved document. Ive never had my defaults wiped, but you can back them up!

Yeah, It's NEVER happened!!! Are you fricking kidding me?? It happens constantly!! Don't tell me it doesn't happen!! I absolutely can't believe people sometimes! You forgot, if you don't like it leave!!
It happens almost every update! I'm not the only person it happens to! But hey, thanks for telling us we're all full of it! I guess I'll go away and stop making up stuff because I have nothing better to do!

@TurtleRacing hey now. He said "I've never had them wiped". This doesn't mean "it never happens".

I have friends who lose their defaults and preferences almost every update, but it hasn't happened to me in several years. Why? Who knows! We certainly would love to get to the root cause of this..

We do hear your frustrations, and we certainly do not approve of the notion of "don't like it, leave" attitude that some members choose to display. Comments such as this will not be tolerated (not saying that you're the one saying it, but directed at those that actually do say it) and will be removed.

And I quote, "an update will never change a previously saved document."

But apparently it does!

You can't figure out why your program is doing what it's doing? Might not have to do with rushing to improve? Not a chance huh? Yet every month, same thing! Improvements make matters worse, but hey continue doing what you're doing! Don't change anything because it's working so well! Sarcasm anyone?

I have the same issue. These updates are mandatory and turn Fusion 360 into a sluggish bloatware. Do the F360  programmers have a concept of productivity? I purchased this tool to accomplish something. With the circle spinning for 15 minutes each time I turn on F360 and sometimes responding to keys I feel like going back to hand sketches. I am on Zoom with the client and can't show anything coherent. It is an embarrassment.

Is there a way I can get a 3 year old version with UPDATES TURNED OFF?

Somebody at Autodesk is doing a lousy job. They seem to have no concept what customers are going through.

When will fusion become usable again?  Mine just keeps crashing and sending error reports as soon as i open the file i need to finish and manufacture.  Who do i bill for the loss of income?

What good are 5 minute auto saves when a recovery file just crashes the program and hours of work are lost?

Please share your file here. You don't need to open it to share it, just right click in the Data Panel and select "Share File"

What is your OS and system specs?

Can you share a video or pictures of what you're encountering?

And no, you cannot get an older version of Fusion, sorry.

I put in a ticket with the crash report and it is currently openable without crashing.  Fingers crossed.

Seth, yes, I agree with rhetts. Most of the recent "updates" are making Fusion less desirable to use. Most of us would be just fine with Fusion the way it was a few years back. These updates over the last couple years leads us, professional and well seasoned CAD/CAM users question the quality/experience of your personnel making these changes.
