What is the best workflow to create (mill) a mirrored Component?

Hello!

I created a part and generated the toolpaths in the Manufacture environment.

Now I mirror the part and then copy and reassign setup and all toolpaths accordingly.

Is this the easiest and best way, or is there a simpler way to create/mill mirrored components?

Thanks for your help

Jan

Hi @janus2,

Make a save as of the programmed part and save it as mirror part.
Within the manufacturing environment place all toolpaths that has to be mirrored within a mirror pattern.
Check if the milling direction has to be changed.
so program conventional and the mirror makes it Climb.

and whala the mirrored part is programmed!!

Hello Marco!

@Marco.Takx

Thanks for your answer!

Do I understand this correctly? You are not really mirroring the part but creating a mirrored copy of the toolpaths?

Then why the 'save as' before?

I will test it tomorrow and get back to you.

Thanks again

Hi @janus2,

Yes, only mirroring the toolpaths.

You can do it within the same file as you want, but mostly people want to have 2 separate files.

Hello @Marco.Takx !

I probably do not understand something in the workflow yet.

I can mill the left part, everything OK!
Then I can mirror the tool paths for the right part. OK.

But the stock definition remains in the old place (left part).
How do I handle the new stock or machine zero points with the mirrored part/toolpath?

Thanks a lot
Jan

Edit: I found it. The mirror plane has to bee in the center of the stock! All OK now!
