Vertical Lead In/Out

Hi all

 

Can anyone explain the benefit of using Vertical Lead In and out under Linking?  Im having a problem with it being a default on most of my toolpaths and my older HAAS wont allow it so would prefer to turn it off if anyone knows how.  I cant really see its use?

The general idea is to keep the machine moving at all times so axes never come to a complete stop. Instead of point moves the motors transition allowing the machine to potentially avoid axis acceleration issues, which in turn can speed up run times.

 

How won't your older Haas allow for vertical leads? If they aren't in a G18 or G19 plane they are linearized and left on G17.

 

I do agree it increases code though and makes it more difficult to make simple edits at the machine as necessary.

Hi Thanks for the rapid reply. That makes sense. For some reason the
Generic Post isnt outputting the G18 and G19. Maybe I have have lost
something in my Post when I have tweaked it. Ill test a fresh post. Ho
can I change Fusion to default to zero? I think the easy code changing on
the machine as you mentioned may be a problem for the guys on the machine.

Is it linearizing the arcs? If so, you'll get something that looks like this:

If you want to set the defaults to no lead arcs, set it to zero, right-click on the value field, and click the "Set as Default" option on the pop-up menu. You can do this for any field, and some checkboxes will also be set as defaults if you choose "Set All as Default" (and that's one that you really want to be sure of so you're not fighting all the defaults you set accidentally at one point).
