Use engraving tool to etch entire letter

I have a diamond tipped drag tool. I want to use it to engrave letters, but rather than just have a single line etched, I want to etch out the entire body of the letter. What operation would I use to do this? I have tried engrave and trace, but these only seem capable of carving out a single line.

I need to use the diamond engraving tool because my surface is not absolutely flat. The tool has a spring loaded tip which makes up for the inconsistencies of the surface. I can't do a surfacing operation because I'm engraving anodized aluminum panels.

I'm testing engraving the letter ATK. The uploaded project is a test project and full of other extraneous operations.

Hi @infinite.machinery

I find good results with 2d Contour.  Take a look at this https://a360.co/3eJNpPp

Let me know if this is what you are after.

I tried that but the results are not much different than doing a trace or engrave operation. It traces the outline of the letter and leaves a small area of anodized aluminum between the outlines.

Hi @infinite.machinery

Turn on "Roughing Passes" in the Passes tab.  Then use number of stepovers.  May output something like this....

Thank you! It's working much better now. I still get a warning:

Warning: A contour was not machined because the given lead parameters would cause a collision!

I tried some of the suggested solutions, but so far the warning persists. The engraving still looks good though.
