update tools when they're changed - Feature request

So when I go into my tool library for a project I always end up with loads of the same tool selected. Is there a way for it to realise tool 4 is the same as tool 4 and not duplicate it?
Also when I update a tool, say I put in a new end mill and it has a different stickout; how can I get fusion to update all other programs that use it? Same would be said if I change feeds and speeds. Recently I've changed brand of end mill so my F&S have changed dramatically. But I don't see an option to 'use new saved tool data' or for the operation to say 'this tool data seems to be out of date- would you like to import the new stuff'.

So you could end up with loads of programs having to do it manually.Screenshot 2023-10-25 at 13.28.38.png

Currently Fusion doesn't allow us to keep the tools selected in a document "linked" to our master library but I believe this is something we will hopefully see in a future update.

Hi @Jools-Taylor

This is a bit of a quirky area of the tool library. We do have some ideas about improving the way that we handle the links and relationships between tools in your libraries and tools that are in use in you documents, but for the time being there are a few gotchas.

All tools that are used in a document must be stored in the document. That means that when you select a tool from a local library or cloud library, we first have to copy it into the document. We do have some functionality that attempts to identify cases where there is already a copy of this tool in the document and re-use it, but that functionality will no longer work if there any any changes to the tool made after it was copied into the document.

If you want to be sure you are not creating a duplicate version of the tool, it is best to select the copy of the tool directly from the document.

You should be able to copy and paste the new presets from your library tool over to the document tool to allow you to more easily update older documents using these tools.

Hey thanks for the response.

Just button where you could highlight two tools then click merge. Or highlight a tool and then click 'use new data' and it'll bring in tool stick out and stuff like that. Then you can check your simulations again properly. Apart from that it works well for me and there's no issues.
