Trouble with pocket selection/path

Ive been using fusion for a couple years but havent' quite got a handle on this pocket machining thing. I have what i think is called an open pocket, where i want to machine away material without leaving a edge. The best solution i have is to sketch an oversized pocket. Is there a setting somewhere to choose to remove the edge material? here's the part and the typical tool path i get.

yup. wow. that works. Not sure where i picked up the habit of adding a sketch for a pocket selection. Bad habit i guess. thanks
