  1. Manufacturers data gives me a SFM of 200-2000. My mill’s maximum RPM is 5100. For a 1/4 tool, the 5100 RPM constrains the maximum SFM to 333 SFM. So I have to pick between a SFM between 200 – 333. Any guidance on what to pick and why?
  2. Any reason to have the ramp spindle speed different from the spindle speed?

  1. Probably best to ask your tool vendor this. They most probably can explain this a lot better than we can
  2. Yes. Surface speed advice changes with the width of cut(WOC) you are using. And ramping usually means full WOC, thus needing a lower surface speed. But this is mainly an issue for harder materials.
